The live trip screen: what your group sees each morning

You planned the trip with ChatGPT or Claude, pasted it into Votum, and your partner or your friends can see it. Then the trip starts. This is what each of you sees when you open the trip in the morning, what changes as the day goes on, and what it cannot do, so nobody is surprised at the gate.

Updated November 2, 2026 · The pictures are drawn from Votum’s own screens and the example trip to Rome.

Up next, and how long until it starts

On a trip day the first thing on the screen is a card for the next thing in the plan: its name, the time, the place, and how long until it starts. "Up next · in 40 min" while it is coming, "Happening now" once it has begun, "Later today" when it is hours off. A plan with no set time shows as "Still to do today". Under the name sit the buttons you need at that moment: Directions, the confirmation number, and the booking link if there is one.

The clock is your phone's, in the trip's time zone, re-read every minute. Nobody has to tell the app where you are.

    The rest of today

Below the card is today's plan as a list: time, what it is, where. Each row opens to the address, Directions, the confirmation number, the notes your agent wrote, and the booking link. If you check out of a hotel today it says so at the top, with the time. If nothing is planned, the screen says "A little room to explore" instead of showing an empty list.

  3. 3 of 6

    A look at tomorrow

Tomorrow is folded under one line, "Tomorrow · 3 planned". Tap it to see the day laid out the same way, including where you sleep tomorrow night. It is there for the "what time do we need to be up?" conversation at dinner, not to crowd today.

  4. 4 of 6

    Where you sleep tonight

At the bottom of today is tonight's stay: the hotel or apartment, its confirmation number, and Directions back to it. The same card shows "Tomorrow night" when the plan moves you to a new place. Flights, stays and anything with a confirmation also sit together in "Getting there & staying" above the day-by-day plan, open, so the number is on screen before anyone asks.

Done, and the plan moves on

When something is finished, anyone who can change the plan taps "We did it" on the Up next card, or Done on a row. The card moves to the next thing. People who follow along see the same change on their phone, so nobody is reading the old plan.

If the plan changes during the trip, change it once. Everyone opens the same trip, so there is nothing to resend.

What the group adds while it happens

The trip has four parts, Plan, Moments, Chat and Costs, in a bar at the top. While you travel, Moments is where photos and a line or two go ("Took the wrong turn. Found the best gelato of the trip."), Chat is where the group says where to meet, and Costs keeps the running total. Afterwards the trip keeps all of it, so the photos and the real costs are still there a year later.

Who sees what

Everyone you invite sees the same live screen. “They can change the plan” at invite time decides who can tap Done and who follows along. Inviting someone is free.

A parent at home gets the view-only link instead: title, dates, places and links, no confirmation numbers, no live screen.

What it does not do

  • It needs a signal. There is no offline mode yet. On a flight, or in a metro with no coverage, screenshot the day before you go under.
  • It does not watch your flight. No delay or gate alerts; TripIt Pro does that. Votum shows the flight you planned, with its confirmation and the airport.
  • It does not draw a map of the day. Directions open your phone's maps app, one place at a time.
  • It does not plan or book. The agent planned the trip; Votum shows the plan. If you decide to add a restaurant on the day, you add it yourself.

Questions people ask

Is there a shared travel dashboard the whole group can open each morning?
Yes. In Votum every person on the trip opens the same trip and sees the same live screen for today: what is up next and how long until it starts, the rest of today, a look at tomorrow, and where you sleep tonight. Directions, the confirmation number and the booking link are one tap away on each entry. Nobody installs an app; it opens in the phone's browser and can sit on the home screen.
How do I use the itinerary ChatGPT wrote on the actual trip?
Paste it into Votum before you go. Votum turns the text into days, flights, stays, places and costs. On the trip, the live screen reads the plan by your phone's clock and shows what is next, so you do not scroll a long chat message at a bus stop. Ask ChatGPT for Votum's short message first; the import page shows where the Copy button is.
Does my partner see the same thing I see?
Yes, the same screen, updated when either of you changes the plan or marks something done. If you invited them with "They can change the plan" off, they see everything but cannot change it.
What if the plan changes during the trip?
Change it once, on the trip. Edit the entry, add one, or move it to another day. Everyone who opens the trip sees the new plan. The chat is there for "we're skipping the museum, meet at the fountain at 3".
Does it work without signal?
No, not yet. There is no offline mode. The screen needs a connection when you open it. Screenshot the day if you are going somewhere with no coverage. Wanderlog Pro and TripIt keep an offline copy; Votum does not today.
Where does the time come from?
Your phone's clock, in the trip's time zone, re-read every minute. The screen stays blank before the trip's first day and shows the full day-by-day plan instead; from the first day to the last it shows today.
