The word itself is votum — literally “a thing vowed,” from the verb vovēre, to pledge or devote yourself. To the Romans it was a solemn promise, spoken with seriousness, devotion, and a little awe. We built Votum for the dreams, trips, goals, projects, purchases, tiny wants, and once-in-a-life experiences that deserve to be pursued with that same kind of vigor.
